The Mayor
Xena Mayor of Poole
Councillor Xena Dion will serve as Poole's 768th Mayor during 2016-17 following election at the annual Mayor Making Ceremony.
Councillor Dion's duties as Mayor include chairing all meetings of the Full Council, overseeing all citizenship ceremonies for people becoming British citizens in Poole and representing residents as their ambassador at the many functions she will attend in her mayoral year.
Inviting the Mayor to an event
The Mayor welcomes invitations to attend events held by the local community within Borough of Poole. These can range from school visits and coffee mornings to formal dinners and ceremonies. The Mayor is also happy to join you celebrating special anniversaries and 100th birthdays.
If you would like to invite the Mayor to your event, please email the Mayor’s Secretary or telephone 01202 633200. It would be very helpful to have as much information as possible about the event you are planning to hold.
We normally need at least four weeks’ notice for all invitations. It’s best to give more notice than this if you can as the Mayor's diary gets booked up weeks in advance.
Due to demand it may not be possible for the Civic Party to attend every event. A member of staff from the Mayor’s Office will contact you if any members of the Civic Party are available to attend your event. Once the Mayor's attendance at your event has been confirmed a protocol form will be sent to the organiser for completion.
