Mike was first elected to the Vale of White Horse District Council in May 1983 and is currently serving for the fourth time having to date served a total of 20 years representing the area of South Abingdon in which he has resided since 1976.

During his time as a district councillor he has been instrumental in the council’s decision to build Tilsley Park athletics and sports complex in Abingdon, in developing joint sporting relationships with schools and promoting the Wessex Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. He was Chairman of Leisure Services and has chaired or served on over 30 varied Vale committees.
