At the annual meeting of Haywards Heath Town Council cllr Sandy Ellis was elected unopposed as the new mayor with the full support of the town councillors.
She said: “I can truly think of no greater honour to be elected as the mayor of Haywards Heath. I look forward to serving the council in the coming year and I thank them for electing me.
“I pledge to work hard to support them all and the people who live and work in our town and the community at large.”
She also paid tribute to the excellent work carried out by the outgoing Mayor John Sabin.
Cllr Ellis has been Heath Ward town councillor for two years and throughout that time has worked extremely closely with many local organisations and groups in Haywards Heath, including being chairman of the award-winning South East in Bloom committee.
