Ryde’s Mayor for 2015/16 is Councillor Roi Milburn. If you would like to invite Councillor Milburn to attend an event please contact the town clerks
This month I have attended an evening of the IW Music Dance and Drama Festival at All Saints’ Church, and presented trophies to the successful choristers; been present, as Chairman of Ryde Town Council, at the count for the Ryde East by election; opened, and welcomed guests and participants to the Ryde celebration of Commonwealth Day; opened the Friends’ Shop at Ryde’s new Health and Wellbeing Centre at what used to be Shackleton House in Pellhurst Road; and participated in the judging of a schools’ competition to design a ‘Ryde in Bloom’ flag.
Plans are well advanced for the Town Council’s taking over from the IW Council of public conveniences at St Johns Road/High Street, Western Gardens, Eastern Gardens and Appley Park in keeping with our decision for Ryde to remain at the forefront in providing and maintaining facilities as befits this important resort town.
Planning too is under way for the celebration, on April 21, of HM the Queen’s 90th birthday, by way of a Patron’s Picnic and also for the Civic Service on May 24 at the Parish Church of Ryde, All Saints. Watch this space for further details.
