The Lord Mayor for the civic year 2016 to 2017 is Councillor Dave Taylor.

Dave Taylor was born and raised in Rochdale, later going to university in Salford where he gained a 2:1 degree in sociology. As a young man he played bass in a rock band and toured in France and Germany and had records aired on The John Peel Show.
Dave was elected as a Councillor for Fishergate for the Green Party in 2007 alongside Andy D'Agorne. He has been re-elected with an increasing majority in 2011 and 2015, becoming the first Green Party Councillor to chair a Committee in York. He will be the first Councillor put forward by the Green Party to be Lord Mayor of York.
Outside of politics and work, Dave loves art, music, furry cats and, much to the chagrin of his Green Party comrades, travelling and fast cars.
Dave's partner Susan Ridley will be supporting him during his civic year as Lady Mayoress.
