For 2016-17 the Mayor of Medway is Councillor Stuart Tranter. His wife, Mrs Sarah Tranter, is the Mayoress.
Councillor Tranter officially took up duties on 18 May 2016, when he was elected at the Annual Council Meeting.
He is a semi-retired company director. His early career was in BT marketing, but for over 20 years he has run his own companies specialising in business development.
Councillor Tranter was elected to the Council in May 2015. His local ward is Rochester West and he has lived in Medway all his life. He wants to do all he can to promote and develop Medway now that he is not so busy with his businesses by hosting events with key organisations and people who want to invest in and improve Medway.
He has decided to focus on just one charity ‘Christians against Poverty’ (CAP) in Medway.
Problems can arise due to loss of work, poor physical or mental health, or breakdown of relationships – and often a combination of these. The trained volunteers from CAP work alongside people regardless of their faith or background, they do not judge, but they give professional help and personal support for as long as it takes to resolve the problems.
