Mayor of Waveney

Cllr Stephen Ardley has been appointed Mayor of Lowestoft with Cllr Nick Webb as Deputy.
At a meeting of the Lowestoft Charter Trustees, a representative body made up of Lowestoft Members on Waveney District Council, Cllr Stephen Ardley was unanimously elected to the role for the forthcoming year. He will be joined in office by Cllr Nick Webb who has been appointed Deputy Mayor.
Both have previously held the post of Mayor - Cllr Ardley in 2004-05 and Cllr Webb in 2012-13. Cllr Ardley also took on the role on a temporary basis last year following the death of Cllr Roger Bellham.

Cllr Ardley said: "I am very honoured to be the Mayor of Lowestoft once again and to serve the people and communities of the town. This is much more than just a civic or ceremonial role and myself and Cllr Webb will be tireless in our efforts to promote local businesses, community groups and events.  Working closely with important organisations such as Lowestoft Rising and Lowestoft Vision we will at all times be looking to instil a real sense of pride in this wonderful town.

"I was born in Lowestoft and nothing could make me happier than playing my part in efforts to improve and boost where we live."

Cllrs Ardley and Webb have also chosen their nominated charities for the forthcoming year. Cllr Ardley will be raising money for the Lowestoft & District Deaf Association and Lowestoft Signing Choir. Cllr Webb will be representing the Lowestoft Town Pastors.
