Lib Dem:Party loses hundreds of council seats across the country

(England Twitter)-Tories took 11 seats, with the Lib Dems losing 12 in the election, in which all the seats were up for grabs.

The council is now made up of 28 Tory councillors, 18 Lib Dems, one UKIP and one Independent.

The undermining of the Liberal Democrats is set to throw the coalition Government into crisis as local Liberal Democrat party leaders called for him to resign.
And there was further bad news for the beleaguered party - its AV dream appeared to be dashed with up to 70 per cent of voters opting for a 'No' vote in some parts of the country.

The new council will be made up of 18 Labour members, 15 Green members, four Lib Dems and two Conservatives.

Elections have been held in the five other district councils across the county.

Labour's best results came in the Welsh Assembly, where it took Llanelli from Plaid Cymru and Blaenau Gwent from an Independent and increased its share of the vote by 10.5 per cent in the first 20 constituencies to declare.

They are Breckland, Broadland, Great Yarmouth, King's Lynn and West Norfolk, and South Norfolk.

Breckland, Broadland, Great Yarmouth, King's Lynn and West Norfolk and South Norfolk are Conservative controlled.
