(England Twitter)Prince William, resplendant in a red tunic of the Irish Guards and accompanied by his brother Prince Harry, wowed the crowd of royal watchers on the short ride to Westminister Abbey this morning for his wedding to Kate Middleton.
1,900 guests for the royal wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles' oldest son began arriving at the cathedral in the heart of London. The site of the wedding is the same place where Princess Diana was eulogized at her death in 1997.
Male guests, including singer Elton John and soccer star David Beckham, sported elegant suits with tails or military uniforms while the ladies arrived wearing a riotous collection of elaborate hats. The hats are a fashion accessory ranging from giant brims in bright colors of pink, purple and yellow to tiny hats shaped like flowers perched on their foreheads. Others have sprigs and feathers sprouting from them. Mobile phones and cameras are banned at the wedding.
Prince Harry’s on/off girlfriend Chelsy Davy was one of the first to arrive, along with socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson and singer Joss Stone.
Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish appeared in good spirits as they walked towards Westminster Abbey alongside BANG Showbiz royal correspondent Colette Fahy.
Kate’s parents James and Carole Middleton - wearing a sky blue wool crepe coat dress with satin piping and Jane Corbett hat - are expected to be next to arrive, with some members of William’s family also on their way.
